RD/RZ350 Lightweight Generator

This is a product we've developed during the RD350 engined Yamaha TZR250 project. As shown here, though in preliminary form, it utilises a shortened crank taper resulting in much less overhang, and of course, much less weight than the standard flywheel and generator. It also significantly reduces the crank inertia which makes the engine pickup revs far more quickly. The downside can be that the engine is slightly more prone to stalling, which is not really a problem on track but requires a bit more care when riding on the road.
Here is a rendering of the design and you can see the individual parts this kit consists of. The kit is installed on our project bike and works very well. The freer reving engine is very noticeable. It will also give the crank and entire rotating assembly an easier time.
